Lakewood runs its own campground at Bear Creek Lake Park, a 2,600 acre park at the foot of the foothills fifteen minutes west of Denver.

Bear Creek Lake Park Campground: Inside Lakewood on West Morrison Road, about 20 minutes from Denver. Sites 1 to 47 carry 20, 30 and 50 amp service, and the season runs 1 April to 31 October.
Clear Creek RV Park: About 25 minutes northwest at Golden, run by that city and open all year, with extended stays offered from November to March.
Chief Hosa Campground: About 30 minutes west at Genesee, run by Denver Parks and Recreation, with 30 amp, 50 amp and full hookup sites and a 35 foot maximum.
Chatfield State Park: About 30 minutes south at Littleton, with 146 full hookup sites from mid-April to mid-October and a 13 foot height limit at the Deer Creek entrance.
Confirm season dates and current fire restrictions with each park before you set out.

Lakewood sits between Denver and the first ridge of the foothills, and its visiting splits the same way. A walkable retail and dining district anchors the centre, a heritage centre keeps fifteen historic structures and an outdoor amphitheatre, and an arts district runs public installations along West Colfax. Green Mountain and Bear Creek Lake Park give trails and open water inside the city. Two well known attractions nearby are actually in Morrison, and are named below.

The Denver Camper Rentals list runs to Class A, Class B and Class C motorhomes, and Lakewood is one place where the Class B camper van earns its keep. The city sits at the foot of the foothills, so a Lakewood trip usually continues west, and a van climbs US 6 and the canyon roads more comfortably than a full length coach. Chief Hosa up at Genesee caps rigs at 35 feet, which settles the question for larger units. In town, Lakewood allows an RV on a public street for up to 48 hours for loading and unloading, directly in front of the owner's residence, and in October 2024 the city prohibited RV and travel trailer parking on rights-of-way in commercial areas. Availability depends on the individual RV and your dates. Say how far west you plan to go and the team will suggest something that handles the grade.
